Introduction Knights in shining armor....Kings and Queens....Minstrels and Court Jesters.....Vassals and Serfs. European life in the Middle Ages was centered around the castle, where noble Lords ruled through a system known as feudalism. The feudal lords exerted economic control over their lands and territories. In return for goods and services, the feudal lord gave the peasants and villagers the right to use the lands and protections from attacks by barbarians, Vikings, and other powerful lords and their armies. These are the images of the Medieval Era in Europe. But you have always wondered...what was it really like? You spend your entire life wishing that you could some how travel back in time and witness Medieval life first-hand. But of course, that's impossible....isn't it? One day you receive a mysterious present from your Great-Uncle Sisyphus. When you open it, your discover an orb that allows time travel. Great-Uncle Sisyphus agrees to give it to you, but only if you promise to use it for the good of mankind. After a lot of thought, you decide that the best way to share the wonder of time travel is by creating a travel agency that will allow your customers to visit different time periods. Your first stop, of course, is a castle in medieval England. You have such a good time that you want everyone to go back in time and visit! You decide that advertising is the best way to provide more information about the Medieval Era, while also spreading the word about your expanding business. Your Mission Your mission is to design a
brochure, poster, or other creative effort describing some of the basics
of life in the Medieval Era. Suggested Topics Medieval Holidays Daily Life for Peasants Daily Life for the Clergy Daily Life for Royalty or Nobles Daily life for knights Food and drink of the medieval era Religion in the Middle Ages Medieval fashion
